This is the year of the "Rouge Edition."
These models were always "Signal Red" with red seat piping, biscuit leather, and burled elm wood.

A gentleman's Jaguar cries for a beautiful lady.
I have three.

No, we did not ride to the wedding with the top down.
Destroying a wedding day up-do would result in instant death.

Mine, not hers.

There has been some past debate as to which is "the other woman."

This is a typical stock Jaguar V-12.

Although a well-designed engine, it does give the impression that the engineers just poured in parts until the engine bay was full.

This is my engine after some detailing, but before the major project started. my engine, detailed
There have been set-backs.

This was not a good day.
I went to go home one afternoon, and found that there had been an engine fire soon after shutdown.
It was not the dreaded "Marelli fire." It appears to have been the world's first power steering fire.
A hose had split and poured power steering fluid on the exhaust manifolds.
Notice how the heat and coolant vapor caused 30 years of rust in an hour. Clean-up of that oily, sooty, baked-on mess was a nightmare.

I cleaned it up and got it going again. A year later, I embarked on the current project.

Yes, I tore apart a perfectly running Jaguar engine.
But compare this picture to the pre-fire picture. Its a world of difference.

These next several pictures show the re-assembly process to date.

This is the engine stripped down to the old cam covers.
The engine looked clean until I removed all those top parts.

engine stripped to cam covers
Old cam covers removed.
There was no visible camshaft wear.
cam covers removed
Engine block cleaned.
Installed the heat shields, the polished thermostat housings, and the stainless steel water rails.

New cam covers installed. new cam cover installed
Installed polished valley cover and new intake manifolds. manifolds installed
These cars have a LOT of wiring, much of it in rough shape. I dreaded going through it all. manifolds installed
Installed throttle tower, coils, and injectors. throttle tower installed
Installed the fuel rail, fuel return lines, fuel pressure regulator, rear manifold balance pipe, coolant hoses with Pi-thon hose clamps, and linkage.
The growlers are in place and the oil cap has been polished.
Notice I powder-coated the linkage clips to match the cam covers.
fuel rail installed
Here, the manifold crossover pipe has been installed, the rear balance pipe now has stainless wrapped hose with Gates heat shrink clamps, and the fuel line to the fuel rail is hooked up.
Note the old harness connector on the fender wall has been replaced with the new MSD connector.
balance pipe installed
The air intakes are in place and the new harness is installed.
Notice the red Manifold Air Pressure sensor at the back of the A bank manifold.
That part appears to be NLA. Mine had brittle, broken wires, so I had to take it apart and rebuild it.
air intakes installed
The new K&N filters are installed. Much of the wiring has been replaced, repaired, and organized. I used self-sealing wire wrap and red split-loom sheathing.
The new distibutor air filter is hooked up and mounted.
K&N filters installed
Nearly done. The ABS with chromed bracket and back plate is re-installed. The chromed engine braces are on.

99% of the parts are back on, but redone like this, you can actually see the V shape of the engine.
Compare that to the stock V-12 picture above. You can't even see the cam covers, let alone the engine bank angle.
